Synopsis

John Hales Whitney, Sr. was an American animator, composer and inventor, and widely considered to be one of the fathers of computer animation. Perhaps most famously known for his collaboration with Saul Bass for the title sequence of Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, Whitney's rhythmic, patterned analog animations using frequently self-built machines are both psychedelic and meditative. This collection includes Experiments in Motion Graphics (1968), Permutations (1968), Matric (1971), Arabesque (1975), and A Personal Search: For the Complementarity of Music & Visual Art (1992)
