My daughters were weaned on marvelous Canadian Broadcasting Corporation children's television. They didn't see Mr. Rogers until they moved to the United States, aged 9 and 7. Mr. Rogers bored them. After watching Won't you be my neighbor my wife said," Maybe Margaret and Carrie should have seen Mr. Rogers when they were younger." Mr. Rogers was obviously pitched to a younger audience. My appreciation for the show was also enhanced. Sure, it was a bit smarmy at times, but the lessons taught stand the test of time. Too bad that Mr. Rogers is now blamed for nurturing a generation of "snowflakes". And wouldn't it be wonderful if all of us who profess Christianity actually practiced our faith as well as Fred Rogers did.
