Synopsis

An incredibly complex performance by Tilda Swinton distinguishes this riveting film about a mother who can't cope with her monster of a child. Director Lynne Ramsay (The Ratcatcher) smartly plays with time in a story that unravels psychologically rather than sequentially; the trio of actors who play Kevin at various stages of his life are all beyond redemption and totally arresting to watch.

Lynne Ramsay---Great Britain/USA---2011---112 mins.

So sad. If you watch one movie that totally turns you off of Tilda Swinton's neurotic-angst one note performance make it this one. (Though any of her work will do.) The DVD extras interview makes it seem that the director was going for something more complex than this Columbie exploitation mess, but it is what it is.
