Indepedent film made on a shoestring in San Francisco's Chinatown with a non professional cast; it began a directing career for Wayne Wang. It's interesting to see a Yank film with all Chinese actors (many of them second generation Americans) talking and cussing like Anglos. References to Charlie Chan movies are all too true, even though many non Chinese still love them. This movie's seemingly tailor made for art situations like the Gene Siskel Film Center and, of course, Facets.
