Synopsis

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at Sundance, this powerful film from the producers of Bowling for Columbine deals with Hurricane Katrina, but not by simply pointing fingers at the tragically slow government response to the disaster. Instead, Trouble the Water focuses on how Kimberly Roberts, an aspiring New Orleans rapper with a video camera and a lot of heart, dealt with the terrifying storm and overcame even greater obstacles trying to piece her life back together in the months and years to follow. "This is a story of champions, not victims" (Michael Sragow, Baltimore Sun). Letterboxed. Closed-captioned. Includes deleted scenes and theatrical trailer. Carl Deal/Tia Lessin---USA---2008---96 mins.
