Synopsis

Over the course of his lengthy career, filmmaker Toshio Matsumoto established himself as one of the leading lights in documentary, experimental film, multimedia, and video art in Japan. This boxed set collects 20 of his short experimental films on three discs, each one a separate rental. Disc One includes The Weavers of Nishijin (1961), The Song of Stone (1963), and Mothers (1967). Disc Two includes For the Damaged Right Eye (1968), Ecstasis (1969), Metastasis (1971), Mona Lisa (1973), Phantom (1975), Art of Man (1974), White Hole (1979), and Ki or Breathing (1980). Disc Three includes Expansion (1972), Andy Warhol – Reproduction (1974), Everything Visible is Empty (1975), Enigma (1978), Connection (1981), Banquet (1982), Shift (1982), Sway (1985), and Engram (1987).
