I really liked the individual stories - the way the stories flowed one into another reminded me of other Kiarostami films. His characters are interesting and he always keeps you engaged with them, in spite of their sometimes seeming somewhat remote and isolated. I could see influence by Loach - there are 3 Scottish characters. Their interaction with an Albanian family is really touching as you see how they develop real empathy for the Albanian family. Loach shows that these working class kids are able to overcome prejudice and look at the family with compassion. Overall a very good film. With Europe's open borders you get a real sense of how individual countries' borders and cultures are more and more connected. The viewer gets to see how passengers now have a broader view of their worlds after traveling on this train.
