Synopsis

In this eerie, hypnotic and highly symbolic work, shot in painterly images that seamlessly move from black and white to color, a fallen meteorite produces the Zone, a blistered wasteland that's only penetrated by special guides called "Stalkers." Tarkovsky's film concerns a three-man expedition into this surreal, frightening region. A powerful, extraordinary cinematic experience that anticipates the dread of Chernobyl. With Alexander Kaidanovsky, Nikolai Grinko, and Anatoli Solonitsin. In Russian with English Subtitles.

Andrei Tarkovsky---USSR---1979---163 mins.

With little to no dialogue, eerie scenes of silence, color schemes that go from dull black and white to a more appreciated vivid earth tone of green and brown, ironic scenes of possibilities, as well as a post-apocalyptic setting (for the most part). This movie paved the way for great film making with little dialogue. If you are a true movie lover (with patience) you will love this film.
