In South Tel-Aviv, gay, liberal Ben (a conflicted Shlomi Bertonov) plants a tree across from the flat he shares with partner Raz (Ariel Wolf, sweet and patient) to freshen up the neighborhood. However, when he sees a couple of African refugees leaning against the tree, he calls the cops. What follows is not only a case of unwarranted police brutality but it causes Ben to look inward and realize that he might not adhere to his liberal beliefs as strongly as he thought he did. Lots of time spent watching Ben be insightful as he goes through his daily life which, seemed like it was a lot of padding to fill out the film. After the tragedy, Ben and Raz see their relationship hit the skids as Ben faces his inner turmoil after his simple phone call initiated a tragedy. Though provoking but somewhat drawn out. Gives some original insights into liberal guilt. B-
