Synopsis

You can get anything you want in this Arthur Penn film of the song by Arlo Guthrie, inspired by the singer's arrest for littering in a small New England town. Relive the late sixties, where love was free and some churches were used creatively. With Arlo Guthrie, James Broderick and Pat Quinn as Alice. "Criticized at the time for a certain opportunism, Penn''s lyrical vision of the end of an era looks increasingly apt in the perspective of passing time" (Tom Milne, Time Out Film Guide). 2002 DVD edition features "Never-Before-Released 'R' Rated Version' and audio commentary by Arlo Guthrie. Arthur Penn---USA---1969---111 mins.
