Synopsis

Standing for "Teenage Awards Music International," this legendary 1964 concert film featured racially and musically diverse American and British acts, including Chuck Berry, The Barbarians, Marvin Gaye, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Supremes, The Rolling Stones, James Brown (whose splits and faux-exits steal the show), and finally--after a lawsuit and decades of being cut from prints--The Beach Boys. "Filmed on October 29, 1964, at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in California, the show has had an air of mystery from its conception through its muddled distribution and subsequent disappearance" (The New York Times).

Steve Binder---USA---1964---112 mins.
