Synopsis

When it comes to eye-opening, expose documentaries, they're usually marketed as "The movie the [name industry] didn't want you to see." In the case of Food, Inc., though, the line is true. The few corporations that dominate the immense American food industry refused to cooperate with filmmaker Robert Kenner (The American Experience) and crew, and for good reason--this documentary unveils the frightening effects our relatively cheap and increasingly fabricated diet has on farmers, laborers, the environment and, of course, our health. "You’ll shudder, shake and just possibly lose your genetically modified lunch" (The New York Times).

Robert Kenner---USA---2008---93 mins.

Hello, I enjoyed watching this film because I was raised on a dairy farm in the State of Washington and have "a little agricultural background." (I did not dairy and left home at the age of twenty-two (22) in 1971.) The major issue of this film is how big business has "cornered" and is now controlling the growth of most food in the United States. This problem has occurred since I left my father's dairy farm in 1971. Before and at that time most food grown/produced in the United States was done by small farmers. As most of you know 'small farmers' have gone the way of the do-do. There is a small resurgence of organic farmers but they are still very much a minority. As long as 'big business' controls farming they will always put profits over quality of food. The film demonstrates this fact. Every American who 'eats' should see this film. This film should, also, be followed by one (1) or two (2) squeals. This is a very important issue since it concerns the health of all Americans!!
