Synopsis

A great combination of horror and satire, as well as a thoughtful portrait of an outsider, Martin is one of George Romero's best films. The title character is a lonely teenager who comes to live with his eccentric uncle in Pittsburgh. The uncle believes Martin is a vampire and, at times, Martin seems to believe it as well, despite the fact that sunlight only bothers him slightly and garlic and crosses have no effect on him. He does drink blood, but his methods for obtaining it are all-too human and rather gruesome. The opening sequence is a genuine shocker. George A. Romero---USA---1978---94 mins.
