Synopsis

"An exemplary work of independent filmmaking," says The New York Times' Stephen Holden about Ramin Bahrani''s bleak film. It details the daily routine of Ahmad (Ahmad Razvi), a Pakistani immigrant trying to earn a living in New York. He was a rock star in his native country, but now his life is marked by frozen A.M. trips from his one-room apartment towards a quiet street corner in Manhattan, where he waits with his vending cart for the American upper class to rush by in search of morning coffee. This lonely existence is highlighted by a romantic interest in a nearby vendor and a passing businessman who recognizes Ahmad from his former musical notoriety. Ultimately, though, Man Push Cart keeps pushing its protagonist right until the end. An Official Selection at the Sundance and Venice Film Festivals and a nominee for three Ramin Bahrani---USA---2005---87 mins.
