From master filmmaker Theo Angelopoulos (Ulysses' Gaze, The Traveling Players) comes the 1998 Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or winner. Bruno Ganz (Wings of Desire) stars in this poetic, haunting and abundantly beautiful film, playing a dying man trying to make peace with his past. He finds a surprising source of hope when he encounters a young Albanian orphan . "A masterpiece that recalls such classics as Bergman's Wild Strawberries and Kurosawa's Ikiru" (Kevin Thomas, Newsday). In Greek with subtitles. Theo Angelopoulos---Greece---1998---130 mins.

A fabulous sleeper movie about life and existence in the face of death. A haunting emotional film that asks us to see each moment in our lives and the choices we make as having existential significance and ramifications. While the ultimate effect of those choices are unknown to us in advance, they are all part of our own tapastry of life we ourselves create. I watched it twice.
