Synopsis

This "arrestingly composed documentary" (Variety) focuses on the murder of border-crossing Mexican Eusebio de Haro. He was allegedly shot in the back in Texas by Charles Blackwell, an elderly man who got off scot-free. As El Inmigrante sifts through the conflicting accounts of this shooting death and the unjust, almost nonexistent prosecution, the filmmakers encounter a broad array of people associated with the hot button issue of illegal immigration: day laborers crossing over, mounted border patrol officers, activist groups, armed border vigilantes, and the families of the involved parties. An Official Selection at the Amnesty International Film Festival. In Spanish and English with English subtitles. Dave Eckenrode/John Eckenrode/John Sheedy---USA/Mexico---2005---90 mins.
